[karlach is out near the swamp! sitting on a stump of some kind, staring into a box. she's in her default clothes, which means her glowing red chest is more prominent. her tail sways back and forth behind her. she seems lost in thought.]
[ hello! kate has changed into her normal clothes. she sees this and spends some time watching from a distance, before finally deciding to approach. up to you if karlach noticed that hesitation. ]
... Were you hoping to find something else, perhaps?
[ kate can be encountered somewhere outdoors! she's in her regular clothes once again. she tries not to bring attention to it, but along one of her shins is a word in white lettering: FALSE. ]
... It seems we've all been assigned some kind of living arrangements. I hope yours isn't too disagreeable.
her own word is visible on her arm: just AVERNUS, with an obscenely huge number scrawled underneath it. she doesn't seem to care that much about it - or maybe she does and she's just really good at pretending. she'll pretend not to see kate's, even if she does frown a little at it.]
It's alright. Could get worse things than the mortuary, you know? Like the leech stream. What about you?
[ Over by the pyre, there is a second, smaller, darker stream of smoke rising up into the air...
And beneath that, Kate can be found standing by the bulletin board, looking at these two posters. The smoke is coming, of course, from her head, as she gazes silently at them. ]
[she did, theoretically! daan is working on them in another thread but it is probably not good, chief. either way her whole hand is bandaged and she's just curled up somewhere, looking absolutely gutted. this sucks.]
... Yeah, I'm alright. [she says, after a moment, glancing up. she cannot find a smile today, but she tries.] Hey.
[ kate, who is normally pretty deadpan... enters the funky fashionista shop and collapses to the floor dramatically, like she's just reached an oasis in the desert. ]
[at some point, karlach snuck away from everything to go curl up somewhere quiet. she's kind of just staring off into the distance, eyes half-closed, expression tight. lips pursed.
her tail flicks in agitation, and after a second - she slams her fist against the wall she's leaning against and hisses:]
Shut up, Wyll, don't talk to me like that. They care. Shut up.
if karlach checked the bulletin, she may have noticed a trail of dark soot on the ground that leads away from there... to a thin, dark cloud of smoke hanging over the cemetery. sitting on the ground between the worn gravestones is a familiar shadow. as always, her face is unreadable.
she seems almost still and lifeless, merely sitting there without moving or making a sound. until finally... ]
... Is someone there?
[ she turns her head to look through the haze at karlach. ]
(note: the fan translation is not great. "emilyko" should be "emilico." however, if it looks like certain characters are speaking in the third person... that is correct. they are doing that. it is weird. ) ]
[ it sure is friday. kate may be sitting out in some remote spot in the village, but once again, she's easily found by the smoke coming out of her head.
when she sees karlach, she turns her head just a little. ]
You must have seen, too.
[ the posters. her voice comes out a little weak. ]
there's a dog. he's hanging around the village sniffing around, digging holes! when he sees kate, his tail wags wildly, and he trots up with his tongue hanging out. pets? pets for dog?]
whatever else kate was doing or thinking at the moment is put on the backburner for now. kate will kneel down and hold out a hand for the dog to sniff... and then she'll move to pet the dog. ]
kate's at the boardwalk, staring up at the ferris wheel with awe. she gives a little start when she realizes karlach is nearby, but then she gives her a polite nod and a soft little woof. ]
she smiles, when she sees kate - comes up to stand with her. she will ignore the barks, even if she thinks it's really funny.]
Yeah, I bet. Way more fun than your stuffy old house. [her tail sways behind her gently.] You going to ride the wheel? I think you can get into those things.
she's still hulking, horns sharp, third eye open. she grins widely, but it's more like baring rows of sharp teeth. she crouches down in her bubble barrier prison, almost like a gargoyle, tail swishing like she's looking at prey.
... she comes out after a bit. she's put the cloak back on, with its big hole in the side. it's pretty much impossible to tell if she actually got healed. ]
